We send our sincerest condolences to his friends and family

He was a good man , a good player and a good clubman
- Dave Howdle

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Lockwood on Thursday evening.

Bob was a former captain of Pontefract RUFC and a long time supporter of the club. His generosity in financially supporting players, was often done discretely and without the need for recognition. He also readily supported the club with his time as part of the Friday Gang , through providing much needed equipment and even ensuring the "Next Match" notice board was always up to date.

Some members shared their memories of Bob with Club Chairman Phil Atkinson.

Mick Edwards recalled that Bob was "a successful captain, and played in the 1973 Yorkshire Shield Final - Bob was in his prime."

Charlie Chester played under Bob in the 2nd XV in the late 70's and said he was a "Grand Bloke who just wanted the best."

Dave Howdle recalled that "He was a good man , a good player and a good clubman."

Former Chairman Steve Hough said "make no mistake he loved the club and if I needed anything Bob would stick his hand up and help make it happen."

Thank you Bob for all your support. We will all miss you at the club, and we send our love to your family and friends.
