Excellent running rugby was played by both sides when a combined King’s School Girls XV, consisting of Years 8, 9 and 10, met Hayfield School Girls XV at Moor Lane on Wednesday afternoon under floodlights.

Honours were shared by the two evenly matched sides when the game ended in a 20-20 draw.

PRUFC Girls coach, Fiona Gaffney commented: ‘This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase girls’ rugby at Pontefract. The King’s School side consisted of some regular players at PRUFC but also some newcomers to the sport’.

Ex-Premiership player and Club Chairman, Steve Hough, who watched the game and admired the standard of rugby concurred. ‘Let’s hope the new girls were impressed by our set-up and hospitality and seriously consider joining the Club for the Girls’ section to continue to flourish’.
